Ingredients
- 12 wonton wrappers
- 8 oz ground chicken
- 1 cup finely shredded green cabbage
- 1 scallion, thinly sliced
- 1 garlic clove, grated
- 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
- 1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
- 1 tbsp hot honey
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp neutral oil
- Kosher salt
- Black pepper
Instructions
- Heat the oven to 400 F and brush a 12-cup muffin pan lightly with neutral oil.
- Press one wonton wrapper into each cup, letting the corners point up, and bake for 5 minutes until lightly golden.
- Cook the ground chicken in a skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it up, until no longer pink, about 6 minutes.
- Stir in the garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper, then cook for 2 minutes until glossy.
- Toss the cabbage and scallion with hot honey, rice vinegar, and a pinch of salt while the wonton cups finish baking.
- Fill each crisp cup with chicken, top with slaw and sesame seeds, and serve warm.
Chef Tips
- Bake the wrappers briefly before adding filling so the bottoms stay crisp.
- Use a small cookie scoop to portion the chicken neatly.
- Add more hot honey for a louder sweet-heat finish.
- Fill the cups just before serving to protect the crunch.
Cook's Notes
- Pre-bake the wonton shells for better crunch.
- Drain any excess liquid from the slaw before filling.
- Keep the chicken warm but not steamy.
- Assemble right before serving.
